Magnolia EDC Awarded Funding for Livable Centers Study in Partnership with H-GAC

Magnolia, TX — In collaboration with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), the Magnolia Economic Development Corporation (EDC) has been awarded funding to conduct a Livable Centers Study focused on the heart of Magnolia. This initiative will explore strategies to enhance transportation, roadway infrastructure, public safety, and economic vitality in central Magnolia.

The project is set to officially launch in Fall 2025 and will run for approximately 7 to 9 months. Community engagement will be a cornerstone of the process, with a series of public meetings, surveys, and feedback sessions planned to gather input and ideas from residents, business owners, and local organizations.

The study area includes vibrant neighborhoods, locally owned businesses, four schools, parks, retail centers, a business park, mixed-use developments, and essential community facilities.

Rachel Steele, Director of Economic and Community Development for the City of Magnolia, emphasized the importance of collaboration:

“The Livable Centers project is a community-driven process. We welcome participation from residents, HOAs, civic groups, stakeholders, elected officials, and all interested citizens. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of Magnolia together.”

At the conclusion of the study, recommendations and proposed improvements will reflect the input and vision of the entire community.
